Peace & Reconciliation

Deep listening and loving speech open a path towards understanding, trust and reconciliation. We bring the practice into places of friction and suffering, learning to meet ourselves and one another with compassion.

This path may be for you if

  • You want to move beyond friction towards understanding
  • You want to practise deep listening and loving speech
  • You work alongside people in prison
  • Your community or service wants to cultivate trust and reconciliation

What we practise

Deep listening

Listening with the sole purpose of helping the other suffer less.

Loving speech

Speaking in ways that inspire trust, understanding and reconciliation.

Embracing strong emotions

Holding pain with tenderness rather than pushing it away.

Shared practice

Sitting, walking, speaking and listening together as a refuge of understanding.

Social Engagement

Peace in oneself, peace in the world.

Caring tenderly for suffering also means reaching beyond ourselves. The same practices of presence, deep listening and compassion can support people living through difficulty, and the staff who accompany them.

Prisons

Prisons have approached us for help. Bringing the practice behind walls offers a refuge of stillness and understanding for people inside, and for the staff who work alongside them.

Bring the Practice to Your Service

If your service would like to explore this together, our circle is open.
